More choose seeing out their last days at home or in a hospice. In some states a couple of hundred mile road trip comes with the hospital package which kinda cuts you off from the family. Having a local doctor that knows you just keeps things personal if you have no need of all the fancy test that they run because they can add it on the bill in a hospital.
